Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee for Senate, told Newsmax on Tuesday his state is working to crack down on hospitals that profit from foreign nationals traveling to the United States to give birth to children who would be U.S. citizens. On “Finnerty,” Paxton said that Texas sued a birthing center in Houston that he asserted was advertising in China to get people to come to the United States and have babies.

“They’re here to vote someday, and potentially, to run for public office after being trained in Communist China,” Paxton said. “It’s a problem in Texas.” Paxton also criticized the recent Supreme Court decision affirming that the 14th Amendment upholds birthright citizenship. “I didn’t like it much,” Paxton said. The Texas attorney general said he was looking into reports that the Chinese government is paying for children to be born here, leaving them indebted to the Chinese Communist Party when they get older.
