FBI agents have swarmed properties owned by the superintendent of the country’s second-largest school district.
A $1.4 million San Pedro home belonging to Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) boss Alberto Carvalho was raided along with a residence in Miami, Florida, federal officials told Fox News Digital.
Staff at the school district’s downtown headquarters were also evacuated so agents could conduct a search of Carvalho’s office on Wednesday, per Fox 11.
Officials did not disclose the specific reason behind the raid, however, there is speculation that it could be linked to the school district’s ties to a failed AI company.
An additional search warrant was executed at a property in Southwest Ranches, Florida, associated with the now-defunct AllHere.
The start-up was involved in a $6 million deal with the school system, according to the New York Times. Its founder was arrested for fraud in 2024, the same year it filed for bankruptcy.
