US and Iranian delegations are negotiating a possible end to the war on Saturday in talks mediated by Pakistani officials. Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are representing the United States in the talks, which began Saturday afternoon local time at the luxury Serena Hotel in Pakistan’s capital city. Details of the talks remained scarce due to security concerns.

Asked whether the talks were happening face-to-face, a US official told The Post: “not necessarily.” The Americans and Iranians have not spoken directly in the same room since 2015 discussions over the Obama administration’s nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. President Trump withdrew the US from that deal in 2018. However, a Pakistani official said earlier talks would occur “in the same room.” The fragile cease-fire agreement between the two countries hung in the balance. The US delegation arrived at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad just after 3:30 p.m. local time.
