Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) tried to take a victory lap Tuesday night. The grassroots took the lap away from him. Thune posted a slick message claiming Republicans have spent the last two years delivering “more money in your pocket,” “safer streets,” and “more opportunities to get ahead,” while Democrats opposed the agenda “at every turn.” The numbers tell the story. As of Wednesday morning the tweet had about 1,400 likes and more than 10,500 replies. That is not engagement. That is a public flogging. Then came the Community Note. X users attached a note that read:
The 119th Congress was the least productive in history — No Congress has enacted less legislation or laws. Johnson has cancelled a total 63 scheduled voting days in the House, granting members an extra 2 months PTO, with no House votes scheduled until after the election.
