Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency published footage showing the leader 56, seated with a group of men, apparently participating in a discussion. The outlet did not say when or where the video was recorded. The timing of the footage could not immediately be established.
He has not been seen publicly for nearly six months and reportedly suffered serious facial and leg injuries in the Feb. 28 strike on his father’s compound, according to the Post. His father, then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in the attack. The Post noted that Mojtaba Khamenei showed no apparent signs of the injuries he reportedly suffered, raising questions about whether the footage was recorded before the war. Sources close to him previously told Reuters that his face was disfigured in the strike and that he had remained out of public view. More recent reports have raised questions about complications stemming from his injuries.
