California Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton took the lead late Tuesday evening, a few hours after the polls closed. President Trump endorsed Steve Hilton this week. “CALIFORNIA: Vote today for Steve Hilton for Governor. He will work with me and the Federal Government, the money will flow because I have confidence in him (but not any of the others!), and we will MAKE CALIFORNIA GREAT AGAIN. Steve Hilton will NEVER let you down. VOTE NOW!” Trump said on Monday evening ahead of the primary.
Democrat Xavier Becerra is currently in second position as ballots continue to pour in. NBC’s Steve Kornacki said the Democrats would need a flood of ballots to lift up Democrat candidates Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer. “They’d need a flood of ballots coming in the wee hours of the morning to lift both Dems above Steve Hilton,” Steve Kornacki said.
