Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department might ask the Supreme Court to intervene after judges have repeatedly ruled against the Trump administration’s efforts to get access to voter rolls. “Absolutely, it’s a possibility,” Blanche said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” The Justice Department has lost 22 court cases challenging its efforts. “Election integrity is something that President [Donald] Trump ran on, and the American people elected him. It’s something that every American should care about,” Blanche said.

“The idea that the Department of Justice is trying to investigate issues around elections to make sure they’re fair and make sure they’re conducted the right way is not something that we should be running away from,” Blanche added. “That’s something we should be running right towards.” Trump previously issued an executive order requiring states to turn over voter rolls that include names, dates of birth, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and the last four digits of Social Security numbers. The Justice Department has argued that it wants to investigate whether noncitizens are registered to vote and identify any other irregularities.
