The New York Post:

An 87-year-old shopper was sucker-punched by an unhinged woman after the octogenarian exited a Morton Williams grocery in Gramercy Saturday morning, cops and witnesses said.

“You can’t even go to the supermarket these days!” a stunned Carmela Garcea told The Post, following the unprovoked 8:50 a.m. attack outside the store, located on East 23rd Street, between First and Second avenues.

The unhinged woman came up from behind Garcea, clocked the 87-year-old in the head and then crossed street and lay down on the sidewalk. Arriving cops asked the suspect — who was clad in a knit cap, T-shirt and baseball-style jacket — a few questions and then fitted her for cuffs.

The NYPD said the victim was on her way home when her “mumbling” assailant “hit her in the back of the head.”

Garcea was treated at the scene.

The suspect, Ashley Oliver, 30, gave her address as 128 West 29th St. — the DoubleTree Hilton in Chelsea — police said.
