NEW YORK POST:
The Nikolas Cruz confession tapes were released on Wednesday, and they’re far more disturbing than people imagined.
Throughout his interrogation, the admitted Parkland shooter can be seen punching himself in the face several times and pretending to shoot himself in the head — while uttering the words, “just f–king kill me” repeatedly to a surveillance camera.
“It’s painful [to watch],” said Ryan Petty, whose daughter was killed in the Valentine’s Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
“I mean, it’s clear to me we’ve got a sick individual that I think at the time was coming to grips with what he had just done,” Petty told WPLG. “I don’t like to think about that day, to be honest. But if we’re going to figure out how to stop this, we’ve got to try to understand it.”
Cops released a redacted transcript of the Cruz interview earlier this week, but held off on showing the video.
“I hear demons,” the 19-year-old told police. “A voice, [a] demon voice.”
The public defender representing Cruz had asked that the entire interview remain private, claiming it could possibly sway jury members. The judge in the case, however, refused — and allowed prosecutors to release a portion of his interrogation on Wednesday.
Snippets from the 13-hour interview were reportedly sliced together into a single video and released by the State Attorney’s Office.
Cruz can be heard telling cops about the “voice” inside his head, which had ordered him to kill his former classmates. He later claimed that the voice gave him instructions to buy three shotguns and three AR-style rifles for his assault, which left 17 people dead and 17 others injured.
“The voice is, is in me,” Cruz explained, pointing to his head. “To me, it’s me and then my bad side … It’s a voice. The voice is in here and then it’s me, it’s just regular me, just trying to be a good person.”
Referring to himself as a “coward,” the confessed killer bashed himself repeatedly for being “stupid” and “worthless.”
“I want to die,” Cruz said, while sitting alone in the interrogation room. “At the end, you are nothing but worthless s—t, dude … You deserve to die because you are f—ing worthless.”
