Several buildings evacuated after explosion in New York

NEW YORK POST:

At least five high-pressure steam pipes exploded early Thursday on Fifth Avenue at 21st Street in the Flatiron District, prompting the evacuation of several nearby buildings.

The explosions, which happened around 6:40 a.m., sent a massive plume of scalding steam skyward.

Personnel from the Office of Emergency Management and the FDNY’s hazmat team were rushed to the scene.

No injuries have been immediately reported, according to preliminary reports.
