NEW YORK POST – JOSHUA RHETT MILLER
A couple in Maine allegedly sexually abused a 16-year-old girl for years and warned her against reporting the crimes, saying she would “lose her guardian angels,” according to court documents.
Jennifer Stevens, 35, and her husband, Michael Stevens, 36, are facing one count each of gross sexual assault for the abuse that occurred between 2010 and 2014 when the girl was younger than 12, according to a court affidavit filed by Waterville police obtained by the Kennebec Journal. The girl’s relation to the couple, if any, is unclear.
A judge who presided over the couple’s initial court appearance last month ordered an affidavit sealed for 30 days because the case involved “very deviant conduct” with young children. The document, which became available Monday, detailed allegations against the couple and was written by a Waterville police detective after a referral from the state Child Protective Services division.
