INDEPENDENT JOURNAL REVIEW – CALEB HULL
After President Donald Trump took aim at those who “disrespect” the flag during the national anthem in September, hundreds of NFL players protested the national anthem in retaliation. Since then, ratings have dropped, ticket sales have plummeted, and a new movement has begun in which fans are boycotting the league.
But now, the boycott has reached new heights as a Facebook page named “Boycott The NFL” with over 200,000 likes on it, has released a video calling for fans to boycott the league over Veterans Day weekend. The video has received over 670,000 shares and over 10 million views.
Fox News reported that a post on the page read:
We will be not be watching or listening to NFL games on November 12th in solidarity with veterans around the country, as football players have continued to disrespect the national anthem, the American flag, and everything our nation stands for.
The page has also put out several other videos encouraging the boycotts.
